I am captivated by the extensive use of sky, land and sea and the tranquillity of being immersed in nature as the light, weather, and seasons change.Â
As a self-taught textile artist, I'm always curious to explore different techniques. I start by sketching and painting, then layering hand-dyed natural fabrics and fibres using a needle punch machine to create background and texture. To add details, I include expressive hand embroidery stitches and free-motion drawing with my trusty Bernina!
My goal is to find ways of working that reflect the essence of the natural world around me.
I studied initially at Winchester School of Art and then undertook my degree in Public Art and Design at Chelsea College of Arts, London.
I’m a member of the Winchester Textiles and Embroidery Group.
I'm pleased to confirm I will be exhibiting at Sir Harold Hillier Garden's Stitched Art exhibition between October 17th and November 2nd. Free entry to the exhibition. I will have original artworks, prints and greetings cards available.
