I am captivated by the extensive use of sky, land and sea and the tranquillity of being immersed in nature as the light, weather, and seasons change.Â
As a self-taught textile artist, I'm always curious to explore different techniques. I start by sketching and painting, then layering hand-dyed natural fabrics and fibres using a needle punch machine to create background and texture. To add details, I include expressive hand embroidery stitches and free-motion drawing with my trusty Bernina!
My goal is to find ways of working that reflect the essence of the natural world around me.
I studied initially at Winchester School of Art and then undertook my degree in Public Art and Design at Chelsea College of Arts, London.
I’m a member of the Winchester Textiles and Embroidery Group.
I'm pleased to confirm I will be attending 2 Christmas markets:
I'll be joining 9 other makers for the Oliver's Battery Maker's Market,
15th November, 10am to 4pm, at St Marks Church Hall in Oliver's Battery. There will be refreshments for sale in aid of charity.
Otterbourne Christmas Fair, 29th November, 12-3, at Otterbourne Village Hall. Hope to see you there!
